From evidence to practice: applying human milk microbiome science in lactation counseling
Human milk is far more than nutrition — it is a living ecosystem that actively shapes infant gut colonization, immune development, and long-term health. This presentation equips lactation professionals with a structured framework for identifying dyads at elevated risk for disrupted microbial transfer and tailoring support based on birth mode, antibiotic exposure, and feeding method. Participants will leave with practical counseling language that communicates microbiome science to families in a way that builds confidence rather than anxiety.
