Target Audience: This activity is designed to meet the educational needs of Physicians, Neonatologists, Pediatricians, GPs, IBCLCs, Nurse practitioners, Registered Nurses, Midwives, Registered dietitians, CLCs, Peer supporters, Doulas, and Childbirth educators.
- Recognise the impact of social expectation on breastfeeding choices and outcomes; and explore effective education and counselling skills to empower families in their choices.
- Identify deeply held beliefs and experiences impacting breastfeeding, and possible support networks to enable families to meet their breastfeeding goals.
- Describe the impact of structural vulnerability, cultural diversity and crisis on breastfeeding practises and support.
- Discuss current research relating to the benefits of breastfeeding and human milk including into childhood.
- Outline possible support initiatives in the context of specific breastfeeding challenges.

This activity has been planned and implemented in accordance with the accreditation requirements and policies of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) through the joint providership of Interstate Postgraduate Medical Association and iLactation.
