Target Audience: This activity is designed to meet the educational needs of Physicians, Neonatologists, Pediatricians, GPs, IBCLCs, Nurse practitioners, Registered Nurses, Midwives, Registered dietitians, CLCs, Peer supporters, Doulas, and Childbirth educators.

Conference Objectives: At the conclusion of this conference, participants should be able to:
  1. Compare initiatives relating to policy development and implementation for improved breastfeeding outcomes in health institutions.
  2. Recognise the prevalence of stigma and stereotyping contributing to health inequities in breastfeeding and lactation.
  3. Outline circumstances for families which present special challenges for breastfeeding and explore strategies for overcoming these.
  4. Describe contemporary research relevant to breastfeeding dyads including medications and the infant microbiome.
  5. Discuss the role and skills of the lactation professional in supporting families to achieve their breastfeeding goals.
