Target Audience: This activity is designed to meet the educational needs of Physicians, Neonatologists, Pediatricians, GPs, IBCLCs, Nurse practitioners, Registered Nurses, Midwives, Registered dietitians, CLCs, Peer supporters, Doulas, and Childbirth educators.

Conference Objectives: At the conclusion of this conference, participants should be able to:
  1. Identify approaches to support breastfeeding families including awareness of bias and understanding diverse needs.
  2. Recognize the importance of trauma-informed care in breastfeeding counselling and support.
  3. Discuss ethical and practical approaches to refine our frameworks for increasing access to breastfeeding and breastmilk for infants on a global scale.
  4. Outline considerations of direct breastfeeding compared to feeding expressed milk, and the effects on infant health and development.
  5. Describe new research evidence relating to important aspect of infant feeding and parental concern including reflux in babies and the microbiome.
  6. Outline guidelines for maintaining breastfeeding during significant mother and baby transitions of introducing solids and returning to athletic activity.

Accreditation and Designation:
This activity has been planned and implemented in accordance with the accreditation requirements and policies of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) through the joint providership of Interstate Postgraduate Medical Association and iLactation. The IPMA is accredited by the ACCME to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

The Interstate Postgraduate Medical Association designates this enduring activity for a maximum of 17.25 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s)™. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.
