Breastfeeding: biological dialogues

Target Audience: This activity is designed to meet the educational needs of Physicians, Neonatologists, Pediatricians, GPs, IBCLCs, Nurse practitioners, Registered Nurses, Midwives, Registered dietitians, CLCs, Peer supporters, Doulas, and Childbirth educators.
- Describe and integrate important breastfeeding counselling & communication skills.
- Identify some factors which can facilitate or interfere with early initiation of breastfeeding.
- Outline the impact of some breastfeeding challenges, and how to assist the parent-infant dyad in overcoming these.
- Discuss new research into impacts of aspects of neonatal anatomy and function on breastfeeding and infant health.
- Recognise the ongoing importance of awareness and understanding of the WHO Code in lactation practice.
Criteria for successful completion for continuing education credit: In order to be eligible for continuing education credits for this conference, you must have viewed all of the presentations in full, either in one sitting or in several sittings, and for CME and CNE credits, you must successfully complete a post-test (passing with a score of 70% or more) and an evaluation. iLactation tracks and submits viewing records for each participant to the certifying authorities.
